Our History
Serving Orange County and surrounding communities since 1945.
Over 70 years of tradition, family values, honesty and integrity.
In 1945 Crank Brothers Deck Co. started with a handful of family members and the ambition to become a premier decking resource for the Southern California community. Over 70 years after our businesses inception, we have delivered on our ambitions, providing ongoing quality service to our customers in the areas of:
Orma Crank, father and founder of the Crank Brothers Deck Co., built the business on good old-fashion family values, honesty and integrity. There has never been a job too small, nor has there been a job too elaborate or exotic for our master craftsmen to handle. Throughout the company’s history, we have grown and become innovative in our expertise and product uses.
At the turn of 1950’s our company grew at an unprecedented rate with the creation of a system that would ultimately become our business standard. Created by Orma Crank, the “Quagga Deck” began as an experiment with fiberglass layers and resins (a logical choice for waterproofing materials). This began the origin of decking materials as opposed to roofing material used prior to this time. We were the only “Pioneers In the Decking Business”. As we began using this system throughout the 1950’s the trend grew, and eventually the Quagga Deck became a service all its own. This created a new line of business for Crank Brothers Deck Co, particularly along the coastline where decks looking out over the hills and ocean became a prevalent sight for us. Over time we began searching for better products, ones that would allow structural movement, as well as expansion and contraction of the material as climate dictated. Our customers were beginning to reap the benefits of this amazing and innovative decking material. Our team of craftsmen developed into the waterproofing and decking specialists that they are today.
Crank Brothers means accountability. We’ve seen the changes in the economy, the customer, the craftsmanship and the regulations and standards the government applies to our industry. Adjusting to these changes weren’t always easy, but necessary, and any company that’s been in business as long as we have will tell you, it means experience, success and quality. Our consumers have become savvy, and know that their options in today’s competitive market are vast. With these changes we’ve been motivated to continually develop our resources to serve the community. One thing is obvious with our customers more than anything; they appreciate quality, honesty and integrity.
