Replacing part or all of your home’s roof is an important job. Throughout the entire process, we keep an open line of communication with you. Here is an example of a residential re-roof, to show you what to expect and answer questions you may have.

The process, step by step
1. Delivery, tear-off and removal
Once the project is assessed and your choices are made, materials arrive on day one and a Crank team member places them in the right spot on your property. The crew removes and disposes of the old roof down to the plywood, then repairs or replaces any rotted or damaged plywood so the roof has a solid base and the longest possible life.
2. Underlayment
With the old roof off and the plywood repaired, new felt paper goes down. We seal around every penetration (vents, pipes and chimneys) so the roof is watertight.
3. Installing the roof
Clay or concrete tile, composite asphalt shingles, metal, slate, wood shingles or shakes: whatever you choose, the crew installs every piece to last. As a finishing touch, we can paint vents and pipes to match the new roof.
4. Final inspection and cleanup
We inspect the roof and the property around it, so no nails or fragments get left behind. We leave you some extra tiles in case part of the roof is ever damaged. Once you are completely satisfied, the job is done.

Roofing process questions
What happens to my old roof?
We remove it down to the plywood and dispose of it. You don’t have to arrange anything.
What if the plywood under my roof is rotted?
We repair or replace any rotted or damaged sections before the new roof goes on, so it has a solid base.
What roofing materials do you install?

Will you leave extra tiles?
Yes. We leave some with you in case part of the roof is ever damaged years down the road.
