Deck & Balcony Railings in Orange County
New railings, replacement railings and railing repair for decks, balconies and stairs. Installed by the same crew that waterproofs the deck, so the posts don’t become the next leak.
A railing is a safety rail and a hole in your deck
Every railing post goes through or into the deck surface. If the post isn’t flashed and sealed into the waterproofing, water follows it straight down into the framing. A lot of the rot we find under balconies starts at a railing post.
That’s why we do railings as part of the deck, not as an add-on. When we install or replace a railing, the posts get tied into the waterproofing system, and the coating is finished around them properly.
Railing repair and replacement
Wobbly posts, rust stains at the base, peeling paint, or a railing that no longer meets code: these usually point to the same thing, water getting in at the post. We check the post, the framing it’s attached to and the waterproofing around it before we quote.
Sometimes it’s a repair. Sometimes the railing has to come off so the deck can be fixed under it. Either way, you’ll see photos of what we found and get a written estimate before any work starts.
The railing and the deck are one job.One crew, one system, no gaps between trades.

Railing questions
Can you replace the railing without redoing the whole deck?
Often, yes. If the deck surface and waterproofing are in good shape, we replace the railing and seal the posts into the existing system. If there’s damage under the posts, we’ll show you before quoting anything more.
Do glass railings meet code in Orange County?
Yes, when they’re installed with the right glass, posts and attachment. We’ll make sure the railing meets current code before it goes in.
Why are there rust stains at my railing posts?
Usually water is getting in where the post meets the deck. It’s worth a look early, because the damage underneath grows long before it shows on top.
What does an estimate cost?
Nothing. Estimates are free and come in writing, with photos of what we found.
